After the Chico show, I drove with my cousin Chris to Salt Lake City at 6 am. I think I hit rock bottom, but I’m not sure. It is quite possible. It took about 10 hours of desert driving to sit down to a diluted Polygamy Porter beer. Very odd. We opened for a group called Buddha Pie which I found to be ironic. We had about 36 hours to drive to Chicago for a show, which seemed very possible until we got a flat tire in Wyoming. I tried to take advantage of this moment and run out to a pasture of cows. They all ran away from me. We drove on a spare tire to Cheyenne, Wyoming. We couldn’t go all the way to Chicago on a spare tire so we decided to stop at North Platte, Nebraska Enterprise to switch cars. We said goodbye to the van with 11,000 miles, a broken door, and a flat tire, and received a new car without all those misfortunes. We reached Chicago 14 hours later just in time for our show with friend Cody Copeland (www.myspace.com/whoiscodycopeland). I got a Cubs hat for 5 dollars. A perfect ending to a great tour! Thanks to everyone who assisted us in our trek. It means so much to us.

We’ve been in Portland for the past few days. Mark, Bob, and Andrew of Harlowe and the Great North Woods have been nice enough to have me stay here and record in their home. That is the chair and the room we’ve been spending most of our time making sounds. We are finishing up most of the album today and then heading to Olympia tonight, Salem tomorrow night, and finally our CD release show in Chico at the Women’s Club on Friday night.

I played with Mark and Bob here in Portland at Ella St Social Club and it was great to join with them again. Their group Harlowe and the Great North Woods (www.myspace.com/harloweandthegreatnorthwoods) played amazingly. I highly suggest you buy their new album. I will keep you posted on the next couple shows-looking forward especially to Chico.

I will not harp on the negative events. However, I owe the San Francisco Traffic Dept. 450 dollars for parking in a tow zone next to Golden Gate Park and I’m not sure why they have to take so much money from me, and others. We were having cheese and throwing frisbee in the park. We walked the Golden Gate bridge. We were laughing as we patted each other’s backs. Then our van disappeared and the cheese and smiles melted as we took a bus to pick it up at a giant lot. THEN they busted our front door during the towing process and it cannot be opened from the outside. But I will not harp. Because our shows were great, it was amazing to come back to Chico, and my brother Justin came out to visit and play which made the time extra special. Gearing up for Portland with Mark and Bob! Check back soon.photo(2)

We were first disappointed when we were told our San Diego show was cancelled, but then we realized we could use the change saved up on our trip to go to Vegas for penny slots. I lost 6 dollars and 50 cents which was tragic, but manageable. Scott and Matt also lost money, but Iwill not disclose how much. The first picture is one frame of millions as we ventured across the desert to reach LA. We were greeted by our dear friend Mark and his amazing family that were nice enough to take care of us these past two days. Scott is quenching himself by the pool in the picture below. We played at Echo Curio tonight which was a lot of fun. We are going to meet my brother Justin and Dan Masquelier tomorrow in San Francisco for a show at Bottom of the Hill. So much more to come. Thanks for reading and listening!

Austin. Albuquerque.

We saw New Orleans for three hours. We drove across a bridge, unloaded and reloaded our equipment into our van just in time to drive it out of the city to make it to a radio show in Austin, TX at 10:30 AM. The maximum sense of delirium set in at sunrise a little after Houston. At that point we felt a secret emotion of irritability and elation. But mostly we were just tired.
Matt, Scott, and I played a surprisingly great set at KOOP Austin Radio (www.koop.org). Then we played at Momo’s in downtown Austin later that night after a 5 hour nap at a Super 8. Now we drive 12 hours tomorrow to Albuquerque, NM! Yes!
I attached a video of So Far Gone. Thanks to Tyler Fischer who acted brilliantly in it, and Josh, Doug, Adam, and Ian for directing/shooting.
More soon.
